Office Cleaner

Job Purpose 

The Office Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable working environment across Lesaka Merchant office premises, meeting rooms, ablution facilities, and communal areas. The role supports the organisation’s commitment to a safe and professional workplace for employees, clients, and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Clean and sanitise offices, boardrooms, reception areas, kitchens, and ablution facilities daily in line with the site cleaning schedule.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Empty and clean waste bins and ensure correct separation of recyclable and general waste.
  • Replenish consumables such as hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and sanitiser in ablutions and kitchen areas.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors as required.
  • Report any maintenance faults, breakages, or safety hazards to the Facilities Supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used, stored, and maintained safely and correctly.
  • Assist with the set-up and cleaning of boardrooms and meeting spaces before and after meetings or events.
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety requirements, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS) and company protocol.
  • Perform ad hoc cleaning duties as reasonably requested by management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 10 / NQF Level 1 or equivalent (Grade 12 advantageous).
  • Previous experience in a cleaning, hospitality, or facilities environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning products, equipment, and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to read and understand basic safety instructions and signage.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual and repetitive tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
